Manipur celebration

Real Hero
HERO’s from Hero’s

Shri Krishna JANMASTAMI was celebrated in different parts of Manipur on Friday (10/Aug/2012) with a large number of devotees thronging Shri Hanuman Thakur Temple of Mahabali Forest at Imphal offering floral tributes and prayers to Lord Krishna..

We have thousands of Hero’s but only few Hero’s make reality for us. You cay see these hero’s how they got felicitation from who love them, please don’t be too much of celebration before you become HERO’s from Hero’s

The State Government today rolled out red carpet and gave a hearty felicitation to Mary Kom, who won Bronze medal in Women's Boxing (51 Kg) in the just concluded London Olympics as well as to three other State Olympians who represented India in different disciplines.

Surprisingly, the State Government totally sidelined State Olympian Khadangbam Kothajit, who too represented India in Hockey. Kothajit was not even invited in the reception function organized by Department of Youth Affairs and Sports at the Indoor Stadium of Khuman Lampak Sports Complex today.

During the function, Olympic Bronze medalist Mary Kom was awarded Rs 75 lakhs and the other State Olympians namely Laishram Devendro, Laishram Bombayla and Ngangbam Soniya were awarded Rs 20 lakhs each. Apart from promoting Mary Kom to the rank of SP (Sports), the Chief Minister had also earlier announced 3 acres of land at Langol Tarung   for the development of the boxing academy being run by Mary Kom.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister O Ibobi said that it is indeed a blessing for the State that Mary Kom brought home a Bronze medal from London Olympics while L Bombayla, L Devendro and Ng Soniya did well, though could not win any medal. The Chief Minister said that if at all Bombayla, Devendro and Soniya, who are currently working in other states, desire to work in the State; suitable government jobs which are not below the status of their current jobs would be provided.

Ibobi also assured that the State Government would give all support to Kh Kothajit, who was placed in the reserved list of Indian Hockey team. Since he didn't play in any of the matches during London Olympics, there have been some controversies over whether he should be regarded as an Olympian or not. As such, he has not been invited to attend the function today, to which the government feels equally sorry. However, the State Government will certainly organize a reception function in his honour.

Appealing to the sportspersons of the state to perform better in future Olympics, the Chief Minister said that for the welfare of sportspersons in the state, an amount of Rs 100 crores has been allocated for the development of Khuman Lampak Sports Complex. The State Government has also submitted a detail project report to NEC for the construction of a Regional Boxing Academy.

Bijoy Koijam, President of Manipur Olympic Association, who presided over the function, also gave a sum of Rs 1 lakh to Mary Kom and Rs 25,000 each to L Bombayla, L Devendro and Ng Soniya. The function was also attended by Speaker Th Lokeshwar, Home Minister Gaikhangam, MLA Landhoni as presidium members.

Real Fear Story North Eastern

South Indian assures its North Eastern community

Hyderabad: The Siddique Nagar area of Hyderabad is not posh. It was known mainly for its proximity to Hitech City, the IT hub that handles outsourcing for many IT companies including some multinationals.

But this week, the colony, filled with narrow lanes and indistinguishable apartments, lost some of its anonymity this week. This is where a few thousand men from the North East live in small tenements. Many of them work as security guards in the large software firms nearby; others are housekeeping staff. Now, there are policemen guarding them in Siddique Nagar.

The ethnic violence in Assam between Bodo tribals and Bengali-speaking Muslims has killed nearly 80 people over the last month. Far from the epicentre of those clashes in lower Assam, cities like Hyderabad and Pune with similar landscapes of colleges and tech firms, have been worried about whether their turn is next. The concern is genuine - in Pune, 12 people from the North East were attacked in the last week - but since then, nobody has been hurt in any fallout of the Assam clashes. It is rumours, threatening text messages, and doctored videos that have been employed to create fear.

Since Sunday, say some of those who live in Siddique Nagar, phone calls from worried families have urged the North Easterners here to head home, at least for a few weeks. Some have responded.

But the police has been patrolling areas popular among the North Eastern community to assure them they are safe. Leaders of different communities have also visited the area, urging residents to recognise this is their home, there is no need to leave.

"Hyderabad is for everyone, Muslims and Hindus. Just because there was trouble in Assam, doesn't mean there will be trouble here. We have communal harmony here," said Sheikh Jameel, in charge of a mosque at Siddique Nagar.

Gokul Bohra and Pradyuman Bohra, friends, both in their 30s, are packing their bags. They arrived in Hyderabad three years ago from Assam. They shared a one-room tenement with three others. Now, they are re-locating, not by boarding a train, but by picking a neighbourhood that they say is less obviously inhabited by others from the North East.

"Everyone is coming back, you too please come back. I can't sleep till you are back," Pradyuman's mother told him on the telephone. He assured her that he feels safe. When he doesn't, he promised, he will take the first train home.

Not too far from his flat is a mosque. Across from it, a temple. In between, there is a political party office that has been temporarily converted into a mini police station.

Parikith Nath, originally from Assam, has lived in Hyderabad for 12 years. His wife Rupa is four months pregnant and his eight-year-old daughter Parishmita is going to school here. So leaving the city is not possible. "I was not afraid. But the other day at midnight, when I was coming back from work, two people stopped me and asked me to go back before Ramzan. That somehow scared me," he said.

Parikith says out of the 40 people from the North East working as security staff at his office, only two remain in Hyderabad - his brother and him.

The state Director-General of Police however says that less than 1000 people from the North East have left Hyderabad in the last few days.

On Friday evening, two Assam ministers Pradyuth Bordoloi and Rakibul Hussain arrived in Hyderabad and visited localities like Siddique Nagar with Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy and officials from the Andhra Pradesh government. The idea was to convey that state governments are united in their commitment to protecting migrants.

Support northeast people

Support northeast people

We should not feel and trust rumous SMS because many people like us and they support us they need us because we are the best also good people ,

The northeastern region of our country is a very sensitive region, but one thing that I would like to say that whatever may have happened in Kokrajhar and other areas should not be used as an occasion to fan rumours to create an environment in other parts of our country that the people of the northeast feel insecure

Decrying rumours about attacks and panic that gripped the people from Northeast in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday made an appeal to remain vigilant and maintain peace at any cost. "We must work together to ensure that all people from other states do not feel threatened by rumour mongering and SMS. We have to maintain peace at any cost.

After putting the blame for the violence in Assam on “outsiders,” the Bharatiya Janata Party has sought measures to prevent exodus of the northeast people from Karnataka and other States.

North East People Worry

HOW  CAN WE RUN FROM OUR HOME?

This is our home and our country then why we should fear? if you do so than you are wrong, because we always feel that home is the safe place then where you want to run? see all the people are fighting for you and me..... please keep calm don't hurry! all this are rumours and don't believe them new.

Insecurity among people

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today described as “reprehensible” the growing sense of insecurity among people from the northeast living in other parts of the country and promised that his government is committed to take all steps to control the situation.

Dr Singh condemned all such incidents during a debate in the Lok Sabha on the violence in Kokrajhar, as also in Mumbai and other parts of the country against people from the northeast.

“The growing sense of insecurity among the people from the northeast fleeing different parts of the country is something most reprehensible,” he said.

Dr Singh promised that he commits his government to work with all “like-minded” people to bring the situation under control without any loss of time.

He emphasised that people from the northeast had “as much right” as anybody else to study and work in any part of the country.

Dr Singh urged the people to maintain unity and integrity of the country. The people are one and “we will do everything to provide them security,” he said.

“We should send a clear message that we will do everything to provide security to people from northeast living in various parts of the country,” he said.

The Lok Sabha today rose as one to console the people from the northeast who are fleeing parts of the country driven by rumours of impending attacks on them and demanded strong action against those creating fear psychosis.

Raising the issue in the Lok Sabha, Leader of the Opposition Sushma Swaraj stressed on the need to rise above party lines and send a clear message that people from the northeast have the freedom to live, work and study wherever they wish in the country.

She said the government should create helplines to address grievances of the people from the northeast and step up patrolling across cities, particularly in areas and hostels where they reside in large numbers.
Ninong Ering (Congress) said reports of attacks on people from the northeast send a wrong signal and action must be taken against those spreading rumours.

“We are sad. We think ourselves as Indians.......but after incidents in a small area of Kokrajhar in Assam .... people of Mongoloid features are attacked .... It sends a wrong signal,” Mr Ering said.

He appealed to the Home Minister to treat this matter very seriously and take strict action against those spreading these rumours.

“Strict action must be taken against those involved in spreading rumours as they are trying to create instability...,” he said.

Mr Ering, who represents Arunachal Pradesh in the Lok Sabha, said Parliamentarians must take a personal interest in removing the fear psychosis among the people of northeast.

Why we are behaving like foreigner, don't act in this way because we are INDIAN and we will be INDIAN. if there is anything goes wrong for us than there is people should be accountable for us. don't go anywhere which you are living for your parent's

Fear-struck people from the north-East continued to flee the city for the second day on Thursday as the Karnataka government assured them safety and launched confidence building measures, including police patrolling in areas largely inhabited by them.

A day after 6,800 people from the north-East left the city by jam-packed trains, the main railway station here was chock-a-block with hundreds from the region eager to return to their homes, in the backdrop of rumours of an impending attack on them in the aftermath of the Assam violence.

"There is nothing to worry. The entire government is with you. We will protect the interests of the north-East people," Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar told representatives of organisations of people from the region at his official residence.

Taking serious note of the attacks on students and professionals from the North East in some parts of the country as a fall out of the recent clash between indigenous Bodos and Bangladeshi migrants in Assam, Lok Sabha MP from Inner Manipur, Dr T Meinya has urged the Union Home Ministry to look into the matter and deal with it immediately.

which has never seen non-locals fleeing the region for fear of their lives — continued to witness the unprecedented exodus of citizens from the Northeast on Thursday, with thousands from Chennai too rushing to the railway station to take the train home.
In Bangalore, where it all began, their flight continued unabated with 7,500 more people boarding four Guwahati-bound trains — three special trains apart from the regular Bangalore-Guwahati Express.
On Thursday evening, nearly 3,000 workers and students, mostly from Assam, were seen waiting at Chennai Central, eager to board the two Guwahati-bound trains that were scheduled for departure at 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Friday. A number of them had arrived from Coimbatore and Madurai.
“Nothing has happened till now, but we are very sure something really bad is going to happen. Our Bangalore friends have said we have to leave before August 20,” said Bishnu, 21, who hails from Dibrugarh and works as a waiter in a restaurant in Chennai.
